Agreement
By downloading, installing or using Kaizen, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Kaizen. Kaizen is made and maintained by Steve George and Sanjay Jaimy (“we”, “us”). “Kaizen” means the desktop app, the browser extension, the built-in MCP server, and their updates.
You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, or have a parent or guardian’s permission. These terms work alongside our Privacy Policy.
Trial, licenses and payment
Your license to use Kaizen. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Kaizen on computers you own or control, under these terms. We keep all rights in Kaizen, its code, name and design. You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute Kaizen, or remove its license checks.
Free trial. Every feature is free for 14 days, starting the first time you open Kaizen, with no account or card. When the trial ends, your library stays readable, searchable and exportable, but you need a license to add or change things or to use the MCP server.
Plans.
| Plan | Price (USD) | Term |
|---|---|---|
| Yearly | $49 per year | Renews each year until you cancel |
| Lifetime | $99 for the first 500 buyers, then $129 | One payment, with all future desktop updates |
Prices may change, but a change never affects a period you have already paid for. Taxes may be added at checkout.
Payment. Polar sells Kaizen licenses as merchant of record, and its terms also apply to your purchase. You can cancel a Yearly plan at any time in Polar’s customer portal; it then stays active until the end of the paid year. If a renewal fails or a subscription ends, Kaizen returns to read-only mode, and your library is untouched.
Activations. A license is for one person. A Yearly license can be active on one computer at a time, and a Lifetime license on up to 5. You activate it on each computer under Settings in the License section, and removing it there frees that computer’s place for another one. The app checks the key with Polar at least every 14 days; without a successful check in that time, it stops counting until you are back online.
Refunds. If Kaizen isn’t right for you, email us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Any rights under your local consumer law apply as well.
Your content and acceptable use
Your library is yours. We claim no rights in the articles, highlights, notes or feeds in your library, and we never receive them. You are responsible for keeping your own backups. Because your encryption key lives in your computer’s keychain, we cannot recover a library if that key is lost.
Content you save. Kaizen saves copies of web pages for your personal reading. The articles belong to their authors and publishers. You are responsible for respecting copyright and each website’s terms, and for not republishing or distributing content you don’t have the right to share.
AI assistants. If you connect an assistant through the MCP server, it can read and change your library within the tools Kaizen offers. You choose which assistant to connect, and its provider’s terms apply to what it receives and does. We are not responsible for an assistant’s actions in your library, so keep its confirmation prompts on if you want to review changes first.
Acceptable use. Do not use Kaizen to break the law, infringe others’ rights, overload or attack websites, or get around paywalls or access controls. Do not reverse engineer, modify or tamper with Kaizen’s licensing, except where the law expressly allows it.
Warranty, liability and other terms
No warranty. Kaizen is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Kaizen will be error-free, that every website can be saved, or that saved pages will match the original.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Kaizen in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Updates and changes to Kaizen. We may add, change or remove features. Updates are downloaded from our GitHub releases, and Kaizen installs only releases we have signed.
Termination. You can stop using Kaizen at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your license if you seriously breach these terms. Your data stays on your computer either way.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts of India, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above and note significant changes in the release notes. Using Kaizen after a change means you accept the new terms.
Contact. Questions about these terms go to Steve George and Sanjay Jaimy at support@kaizenhq.net.
